Competitions

Represent BU in competitions.

Our club prepares student delegations for undergraduate commodities competitions focused on market research, trading strategy, and presenting.

Upcoming Competition

UCC by Cougar Commodities

This September, the BU Commodities Trading Club plans to send student delegations to UCC, hosted by Cougar Commodities at the University of Houston.

The competition gives students an opportunity to apply commodity-market knowledge, build trade ideas, analyze market drivers, and present research in a competitive setting.

How We Prepare

From market basics to competition-ready ideas.

01

Market Research

Students follow commodity news, supply-demand trends, inventories, and macroeconomic developments.

02

Trade Thesis Development

Teams learn to form clear, evidence-based views on price direction, risk, and catalysts.

03

Presentation Practice

Members practice communicating market views clearly, defending assumptions, and responding to questions.

Who Can Participate?

Open to motivated members.

Competition teams are intended for members who consistently attend meetings, complete preparation work, and show interest in commodity markets. Prior trading experience is helpful but not required.
